About the Mifflin–St Jeor formula

The formula is considered one of the most accurate for basal metabolic rate (BMR). It takes sex, age, height and weight. BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor, which gives total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). The calories are then adjusted to the goal: a 500 kcal/day deficit for weight loss, a 300 kcal/day surplus for gaining.
