Answers to what people ask most

You set up a meal profile for every family member: how many meals a day, restrictions, preferences and a goal (lose weight, maintain, gain). The service takes all of that into account, along with what is already in your household pantry, and builds a personal meal plan with specific dishes for every day.

We use a Health-First optimisation algorithm that analyses the calories and macros of every product in our database (over 3,000 items). The algorithm goes through millions of combinations and picks those that match your nutrition plan most closely. Basal metabolic rate is worked out with the Mifflin–St Jeor formula (1990) — a scientifically grounded method accurate to ±10% for 82% of people, per the meta-analysis by Frankenfield et al. (2005). The American Dietetic Association recommends it as the most accurate for the modern population. We then adjust the calories to your goal (weight loss, muscle gain, or any other).

Tonus runs around the clock and is available anywhere in the world. Meal planning, order building and grocery lists work everywhere. Integration with grocery delivery services depends on your region — the current list of available services is in your account settings.

No. We build ready order lists of products and dishes, and where delivery services are integrated in your region, we also prepare baskets that respect your preferences and brand restrictions. We do not store your card details and have no access to your payment data.

Yes. For every family member you can list both specific products and general allergens. The algorithm applies those restrictions right when building the meal plan, and keeps them through order building and basket assembly. You can also blocklist specific brands.

Delivery cost depends on the store, the order size, the delivery address and the time of day — at peak hours it can cost more. Our algorithm takes delivery into account when building the basket and shows the total expected order sum, delivery included.

Just build the basket again — our algorithm will re-check availability of the order’s items in the store for your exact delivery address.

We use the Mifflin–St Jeor formula — one of the most accurate for basal metabolic rate (BMR). It takes your sex, age, height and weight. BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to get total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). Depending on your goal (lose weight, maintain, gain), we adjust: a 500 kcal/day deficit for weight loss, a 300 kcal/day surplus for gaining.

Yes, there is a Keto mode: it automatically picks products low in carbohydrates (up to 5% of total calories) and high in fat (around 70%). Choose that goal when setting up the plan, and the algorithm looks for suitable products: meat, fish, eggs, cheese, nuts, oils, non-starchy vegetables and so on.

Yes. In the settings you can choose a diet type: vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian (fish allowed). The algorithm excludes animal products according to your choice. For vegans we pick plant protein sources (pulses, tofu, tempeh, nuts, seeds) and watch the balance of essential amino acids.

We refresh prices in real time on every basket request. Availability is refreshed every 15 minutes. That way you always see current prices and never run into a product that has quietly gone up in price or run out.

Yes, the bot has a “Save basket” button. Saved baskets stay in the History section for 30 days. You can open a saved basket and order it at any time. Note that prices and availability may have changed since you saved it.

Yes, Tonus has an iOS app (available through TestFlight). You can also use the service through your account at tonusmeal.ru or through the Telegram bot @tonusmealbot.

Yes, you can add up to 15 family members with individual parameters (age, height, weight, goal, activity level). You can also add pets (cats, dogs) with feeding settings. The meal plan is worked out individually for each, while the shopping list is shared across the family.

You can connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) through the mobile app. The service then syncs your activity, calorie expenditure and weight automatically for sharper meal planning.

Yes. Looking at a finished basket, you can add extra products by hand. The bot recalculates calories and macros with your additions and shows how they affect the plan. You can also remove products from the basket or swap them for alternatives.

It is our own algorithm that puts health first. 85% of the optimisation weight goes to matching the nutrition plan (calories, macros, micronutrients, variety), and only 15% to cost. That means the algorithm first finds baskets that match your plan precisely, and among those picks the best value.

Yes, the service follows current security standards. Data travels only over protected channels, and storage is encrypted. We do not pass your personal data to third parties without your consent. Your nutrition data is stored encrypted and used only to build baskets. You can delete your history or your whole account at any time.
